Amorello Activity Package 1Tembe Elephant Park & Kosi Bay Snorkelling

Amorello Activity Package 1 includes a half day game drive in Tembe Elephant Park as well as snorkelling at Kosi Bay. Our airconditioned shuttle departs from Amorello at 05:00am and drives the short 1h30min to Tembe Elephant Park where we spend half the day. The second half of the day is spent snorkelling at Kosi Bay with guided talks about the marine life and local Tsonga people. These activities may be swapped around depending on weather and tides.

Tembe Elephant Park
Tembe Elephant lies 120km to the north of Amorello and is home to Africa’s ‘Big Five’ (lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, leopard). Tembe Elephant Park is famous for its giant elephants and their enormous tusks, regarded to be the biggest in the world. Tembe is situated in a part of the country known to the Zulu people as Maputaland which translates to “the earth is flat” which is a fitting name since the altitude of the highest ridges is a mere 143m above sea-level.
The region has a rare eco-system, transitioning between tropical and sub-tropical, and this ecological diversity suits not only the elephants but also huge numbers of animal and bird species.

Kosi Bay
Kosi Bay is the cultural capital of the ancient Tsonga Tembe kingdom. This is the original and natural home of the Tsonga people and their primitive fish traps. The Kosi River Mouth is known as “the aquarium” because of the clarity of the water and the abundance of fish species. Amorello’s guides are experienced in exploring this incredible aquatic eco-system and will be able to point out some unique and interesting facts about the species of fish and other marine life.
While enjoying a traditional South African braai (BBQ) on the beach, a local guide will share some history of the Tsonga people, how they catch their fish and the incredible “fishkraals” which date back over 700 years.

R2, 350(incl VAT) per guest – includes packed breakfast, bottled water & other beverages, braai(BBQ) lunch on the beach, snorkelling gear as well as travel from Amorello.
Add 2 nights at Amorello – Dinner Bed & Breakfast for an extra R695 per person per night.
